Wolves defender Yerson Mosquera is facing an extended spell out of action following a severe knee injury sustained in their 3-1 Premier League defeat to Aston Villa. The 23-year-old Colombian underwent scans that revealed damage to both the medial collateral ligament (MCL) and the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).

Wolves’ head of high performance, Phil Hayward, confirmed the grim news, stating that Mosquera will undergo surgery in the next two weeks. “Timescales are difficult to state prior to surgery, but it is highly unlikely he will feature again this season,” Hayward added.

Mosquera’s injury is a significant setback for Wolves, with the defender set to miss the remainder of the campaign.
