Undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury are slated to face off again on December 21, according to Turki Alalshikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority. Usyk defeated Fury by split decision on May 18 to become the first undisputed champion of the four-belt era. The initial rematch was planned for October, but Alalshikh announced the rescheduled date, emphasizing that “the world will watch another historical fight again.”

Venue and Event

While the specific venue for the rematch hasn’t been disclosed, it will occur during Riyadh Season, a winter entertainment festival in Saudi Arabia that has previously hosted significant boxing events.

Usyk’s Historic Achievement

Usyk, a 37-year-old Ukrainian, added Fury’s WBC belt to his WBA, WBO, and IBF titles, becoming the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999. Usyk has maintained an undefeated record with 22 professional fights.

Fury’s Opportunity

The rematch provides 35-year-old Briton Fury a chance for redemption after suffering his first career defeat in 16 years as a professional.

Potential Complications

Despite the high stakes, it’s unlikely all four belts will be on the line for the rematch. The IBF plans to strip Usyk of their title as he won’t be fighting the mandatory challenger next. Alalshikh expressed his excitement for the event on social media, stating, “Our commitment to boxing fans continues. We hope you enjoy it.”
