Trabzonspor’s recent appeal against a six-match fan ban has yielded a reduction to just four matches without spectators following a violent clash between supporters and Fenerbahce players.

The ban was initially imposed after Trabzonspor fans stormed the pitch and engaged in altercations with Fenerbahce players on March 17th.

Alongside the reduction in the fan ban, Trabzonspor’s fine has also been significantly decreased from £74,105 to £11,066.Despite the appeal, one-match suspensions for Fenerbahce players Can Egribayat and Jayden Quinn Oosterwolde, who were involved in the confrontation with supporters, have been upheld.

The incident at Papara Park in Trabzon led to the arrest of twelve fans, underlining the severity of the altercation. The aftermath of the clash saw Fenerbahce contemplating withdrawal from the Turkish Super Lig, but a decision was made against it in a recent vote.

Currently, Fenerbahce holds the second position in the Turkish Super Lig, trailing leaders Galatasaray by two points with seven matches remaining in the season. In contrast, Trabzonspor sits in third place, significantly behind Fenerbahce by 30 points.

The reduction in the fan ban and fine may provide some relief for Trabzonspor as they navigate the remainder of the season without the support of their fans for four matches.
