The PGA Tour unveiled the roster of 144 players for the upcoming premier event at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, and notably absent from the list was Tiger Woods. His last appearance at The Players dates back to 2019.
In his inaugural tournament of 2024, held last month at Riviera Country Club outside Los Angeles, Woods, who serves as the host of the event, made his comeback. This marked his first official competition since withdrawing from the Masters the previous year and subsequently undergoing ankle surgery.
Expressing his desire to participate in one tour event per month moving forward, the 15-time
major champion, now 48, may be choosing to take a break to recuperate and prepare for the Masters, scheduled for April 11-14.
Earlier this week, Woods took part in the one-day pro-member at Seminole Golf Club in Juno
Beach, Fla., teaming up with PGA of America CEO Seth Waugh. This event typically attracts
high-profile PGA Tour players.
