Iga Swiatek maintained her dominance over Coco Gauff to secure a spot in the French Open final, edging closer to her third consecutive title at Roland Garros. The top-seeded Swiatek, 23, established control early by breaking Gauff’s serve in the first game and retained her lead throughout most of the match, winning 6-2, 6-4.
Despite a brief setback in the second set where she lost her serve, Swiatek managed to stay composed and focused. Gauff, the third seed, saved three match points but ultimately couldn’t overcome Swiatek’s solid performance. The victory marks Swiatek’s 11th win out of 12 matches against the 20-year-old American.
“It was intense, especially in the second set but I’m happy,” Swiatek remarked. “I stuck with my tactics, didn’t overthink things and just went for it.”
Swiatek will compete against either Italian 12th seed Jasmine Paolini or the unseeded 17-year-old Russian Mirra Andreeva in the final on Saturday. Paolini and Andreeva are set to meet in the second semi-final later on Thursday.
As Swiatek aims for her third consecutive French Open title, her remarkable consistency and tactical prowess continue to shine, solidifying her position as the world number one.
