Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani made Major League Baseball history by becoming the first player ever to achieve 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases in a single season. Ohtani cemented his place in the MLB’s 50-50 club with a seventh-inning home run during the Dodgers’ dominant 20-4 win over the Miami Marlins, which also secured the team’s postseason berth.

Ohtani’s second home run of the game gave him 50 for the season, following two stolen bases that boosted his total to 51 steals. He added a third home run in the ninth, capping an incredible performance where he went six-for-six with five extra-base hits, 10 RBIs, and four runs scored.

Reflecting on his historic feat, Ohtani said, “I have no idea where this came from, but I’m glad I performed well today.” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts praised the accomplishment, emphasizing its rarity in baseball’s long history. Despite his personal milestone, Ohtani remained team-focused, happy to help the Dodgers secure a win.

Ohtani, already the fastest player to reach 40 homers and 40 stolen bases, is now pushing his recovery from elbow surgery as he prepares to potentially resume pitching next season.
