Maurizio Sarri, 65, has resigned as manager of Lazio following their recent struggles, including a fifth defeat in six games.
The team’s 2-1 loss to Udinese on Monday compounded their woes, leaving them ninth in Serie A, and seven points adrift of European qualification.
Giovanni Martusciello will take charge as interim manager. Sarri, who guided Lazio to second place in Serie A last season, joined the club in 2021.
Their upcoming fixtures include a match against Frosinone and a Italian Cup semi-final against Juventus.
Sarri’s coaching career includes successful stints at Chelsea, Napoli, and Juventus, where he won various titles and accolades.
