Sarah Storey triumphed once again, winning gold in the women’s C4-C5 individual time trial at the 2024 Para-cycling Road World Championships in Switzerland. The 46-year-old legend completed the 29.9km course in 45 minutes and 25 seconds, finishing a decisive one minute and 36 seconds ahead of her Paralympic rival, Heidi Gaugain of France. Storey’s victory marks her 38th Para world title and a successful defense of her crown from last year’s championship in Glasgow. Reflecting on her performance, Storey said, “I was really chuffed… The course was so much fun.”

In the women’s B individual time trial, Ireland’s Katie-George Dunlevy, alongside pilot Linda Kelly, took the win with a time of 43:14. British riders Sophie Unwin (with pilot Jenny Holl) and Lora Fachie (with pilot Corrine Hall) secured second and third, respectively.

Meanwhile, in the Road World Championships running parallel to the Para event, Australia’s Grace Brown claimed the elite women’s time trial title, finishing 16 seconds ahead of Demi Vollering. In the men’s event, Belgium’s Remco Evenepoel edged out Italy’s Filippo Ganna by six seconds, while Great Britain’s Josh Tarling finished fourth, one minute and 18 seconds behind the winner.
