Newcastle United has generously donated up to £15,000 to AFC Wimbledon to assist with repairs to their Plough Lane stadium after severe flooding caused significant damage. The support comes ahead of their Carabao Cup third-round clash, which had to be moved to Newcastle due to the stadium’s condition.

Graham Stacey, a member of AFC Wimbledon’s supporters’ organization, expressed gratitude to fans from multiple clubs who contributed through a Just Giving page. “Football really is, at its core, one huge extended family,” Stacey said, thanking fans from Newcastle, Brighton, Arsenal, Colchester, and Southampton.

Wimbledon had to postpone the original fixture due to “significant pitch damage” from flooding caused by record water levels at the nearby River Wandle. The club thanked Newcastle and the EFL for swiftly agreeing to reverse the fixture and expressed deep concern for both the club’s staff and supporters during the recovery efforts.
