World number one Nelly Korda has announced her withdrawal from the Aramco Team Series event in Hemel Hempstead next week due to a dog bite. The 25-year-old American golfer, who was set to defend her title at the Centurion Club as part of the Ladies European Tour, shared the news on social media.

“On Saturday in Seattle, I was bitten by a dog and need time to receive treatment and recover fully,” Korda wrote. “I apologise to the LET, the sponsors, and my fans for my absence. Thank you for your understanding and I look forward to returning to the course soon.”

Korda, who has won 14 times on the LPGA Tour, claimed her second major victory at the Chevron Championship in April. The Aramco Team Series is scheduled to take place from July 3-5.
