Ake, who recently made his first Premier League appearance of the season in Manchester City’s 3-1 win against West Ham, was visibly distressed as he was carried off the field. Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman expressed concerns but indicated that further tests were necessary to confirm the extent of the injury. “It looks like a muscle injury for Nathan, though I am not certain,” Koeman said.
The Netherlands made a strong start to the game, taking the lead after just two minutes when Tijjani Reijnders finished off a fine setup by Liverpool’s Ryan Gravenberch.
