Manchester City defender Nathan Ake was taken off on a stretcher during the Netherlands’ 2-2 draw with Germany in the Nations League clash held in Amsterdam. The 29-year-old suffered an apparent hamstring injury just before halftime, casting a shadow over a lively encounter.

Ake, who recently made his first Premier League appearance of the season in Manchester City’s 3-1 win against West Ham, was visibly distressed as he was carried off the field. Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman expressed concerns but indicated that further tests were necessary to confirm the extent of the injury. “It looks like a muscle injury for Nathan, though I am not certain,” Koeman said.

The Netherlands made a strong start to the game, taking the lead after just two minutes when Tijjani Reijnders finished off a fine setup by Liverpool’s Ryan Gravenberch. However, Germany responded when Deniz Undav, making his first start for the national team, scored his debut goal with a composed first-time strike.

Germany took the lead on the stroke of halftime, with Joshua Kimmich finding the back of the net at the back post. But the Netherlands quickly equalized in the second half when Denzel Dumfries struck from inside the area just five minutes after the restart.

Germany had a golden opportunity to win the match late on, but David Raum missed a crucial header from a Kai Havertz cross, sending his effort over the bar. The draw leaves both teams with mixed feelings, as the Netherlands faces uncertainty over Ake’s injury, while Germany will rue missed chances to secure victory.
