French full-back Melvyn Jaminet has been suspended for 34 weeks and fined €30,000 by the French Rugby Federation (FFR) after posting a racist video on social media. The incident occurred during France’s summer tour of Argentina earlier this month, targeting the Arab community.

The FFR stated that Jaminet’s actions “harmed the best interests of rugby.” To potentially reduce his ban by eight weeks, Jaminet can engage in anti-discrimination activities to promote the values of sport. Successful completion of these activities could make him eligible for selection before the 2025 Six Nations.

Jaminet, who was sent home from the tour, expressed deep remorse, stating on Instagram, “Racism, in all its forms, is unacceptable and goes against everything I believe in.”

Additional Scandals During the Tour

The tour was further marred by allegations against Jaminet’s teammates, Hugo Auradou and Oscar Jegou, who were charged with the aggravated rape of a 39-year-old woman. Both players deny the charges, asserting that the encounter was consensual.
