Mark Williams delivered a vintage performance at the Tour Championship final in Manchester, overcoming Ronnie O’Sullivan 10-5.

Despite trailing 5-3, the 49-year-old Welshman showcased remarkable resilience, compiling two century breaks and three half-centuries to secure victory, marking his 26th ranking title.

The triumph, witnessed by a capacity crowd, not only earned Williams the title but also a £150,000 prize. Reflecting on his unexpected win, Williams expressed his disbelief at still winning tournaments at his age, setting his sights on the upcoming World Championships.

While acknowledging O’Sullivan’s formidable skills, Williams attributed his victory to applying pressure on his opponent, causing frustration and uncharacteristic mistakes.

This victory adds to Williams’ impressive season, having previously claimed the British Open title and now securing his first Tour Championship success.
