Manchester City have secured the signing of Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt in a deal worth £63 million, including bonuses. The 25-year-old has signed a contract until June 2029 and becomes Pep Guardiola’s third signing of the January transfer window.

Marmoush’s Reaction

Expressing his excitement about joining the Premier League champions, Marmoush said:
“This is a day I will never forget. To sign for Manchester City – one of the best teams in the world – is an amazing feeling. I am delighted, my family are so proud, and we are all very happy to be here in Manchester.”

Marmoush highlighted the opportunity to improve under Guardiola and his technical staff, adding:
“City have been the most successful club in England for many years, and I want to learn from the staff and my teammates. I want to become a valued member of this winning team.”

Marmoush’s Profile

  • Versatility: Marmoush can play across the front line, offering Guardiola additional attacking options.
  • Bundesliga Form: He leaves Frankfurt after scoring 15 Bundesliga goals this season, just one behind league-leading scorer Harry Kane.
  • Previous Clubs: Marmoush joined Frankfurt in 2023 on a free transfer from Wolfsburg, spending just 18 months with the club before his move to England.

City’s January Spending

Marmoush’s arrival marks City’s third signing in January, following defenders Vitor Reis (£30m from Palmeiras) and Abdukodir Khusanov (£34m from Lens). The trio pushes City’s spending past £120 million for the month as Guardiola looks to rejuvenate his squad.

Aiming for a Turnaround

Despite their recent spending spree, Manchester City face challenges this season:

  • Premier League Struggles: They sit fourth in the table, 12 points behind leaders Liverpool.
  • Champions League Pressure: City risk missing out on a play-off spot in Europe’s elite competition.

Marmoush’s signing signals City’s intent to strengthen their squad and reignite their campaign. The Egyptian forward will be eager to make his mark as Guardiola’s side fights to salvage their season.
