Luke Humphries returned to winning form by clinching the Czech Darts Open title in Prague with a commanding 8-1 victory over surprise finalist Kim Huybrechts. Humphries, the reigning world champion, showcased his dominance from the start, throwing nearly 20 points higher per shot and hitting an impressive 80% of his doubles. Huybrechts, who was a late entrant due to Rob Cross pulling out, had an impressive run but found Humphries a step too far in the final.
Humphries secured the first break and quickly established a 2-1 lead. From there, he won seven consecutive legs, with checkouts of 132 and 100, ending Huybrechts’ dream run. This win marks Humphries’ second European Tour title of the season, following his victory at the German Darts Grand Prix in April.
Luke Littler’s Impressive Performance
While Humphries lifted the trophy, rising star Luke Littler delivered a remarkable performance throughout the weekend. Littler twice broke the record for the highest average in Czech Darts Open history, first with 110.43 in the second round, then surpassing it with 116.51 in the round of 16. Though he couldn’t overcome Humphries in the semi-finals, losing 7-4, Littler’s averages of 110.57 and 106.73 over the weekend confirmed his status as a young talent to watch in the darts world.
