Leeds United will face either Southampton or West Bromwich Albion in the Championship play-off final after a commanding victory over Norwich City. Following a goalless first leg, Leeds, who finished the season 17 points and three places ahead of Norwich, took an early lead when Ilia Gruev’s long-range free-kick slipped past Angus Gunn at his near post. Joel Piroe then doubled the advantage, heading in Willy Gnonto’s cross while keeper Gunn was left stranded, giving Norwich a daunting task to recover.

Norwich’s only significant chance came shortly after Leeds’ second goal, but Josh Sargent was denied by Illan Meslier in a one-on-one situation. Leeds extended their lead to 3-0 before halftime when Georginio Rutter’s shot hit the underside of the bar and went in, capping a swift counter-attack. The home side’s dominance continued in the second half as Crysencio Summerville tapped in a fourth goal. Gunn could only parry Gnonto’s shot to Junior Firpo, who then set up Summerville to score.

With this emphatic 4-0 victory, Leeds United secured their place in the play-off final at Wembley, scheduled for Sunday, May 26. The team now has nine days to prepare for the decisive match, where they will aim to secure an immediate return to the Premier League. This dominant performance showcased Leeds’ determination and quality, leaving their fans hopeful for a successful end to the season.
