Lecce fired manager Roberto D’Aversa after he headbutted Verona striker Thomas Henry post-Serie A match, resulting in red cards for both.

D’Aversa, 48, deemed his actions “inexcusable,” leading to his dismissal. The club cited the incident as the reason for his removal on Monday.

Lecce’s recent struggles, dropping to 15th with a one-point cushion from relegation, contributed to the decision.

With just one win in their last 12 league games, Lecce appointed D’Aversa last summer to replace Marco Baroni, who had managed Virtus Lanciano, Parma, and Sampdoria.
