Newcastle United extended their unbeaten Premier League start with a dramatic 2-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers, thanks to late strikes from Fabian Schär and Harvey Barnes. Despite Wolves taking the lead through Mario Lemina in the first half, Newcastle’s persistence paid off with two brilliant goals in the closing stages.

The Magpies began the match with confidence, with early efforts from Jacob Murphy and Anthony Gordon, the latter striking the post. However, Wolves capitalized on a swift counterattack in the 36th minute, as Jørgen Strand Larsen’s clever cut-back allowed João Gomes to dummy the ball, setting up Lemina for a simple tap-in.

Newcastle pressed hard for an equalizer in the second half, but Wolves nearly doubled their lead when Strand Larsen hit the post. Nick Pope was vital in keeping the visitors in the game, making crucial saves to deny both Larsen and Matheus Cunha.

In the 75th minute, Schär leveled the score with a deflected long-range effort. Just five minutes later, substitute Harvey Barnes curled in a superb shot to complete the comeback. Despite late pressure from Wolves, Newcastle held firm, with Pope making another important save to secure the win.

Newcastle’s resilience continues to shine as they remain unbeaten in their opening four games.
