France striker Kylian Mbappe, aged 25, revealed his decision to leave Paris St-Germain (PSG) at the end of the current season through a video shared on his social media platforms. In the announcement, Mbappe expressed gratitude towards PSG and confirmed that he would not be extending his contract, signaling the conclusion of his adventure with the club in the upcoming weeks. This decision comes as Mbappe’s contract with PSG is set to expire in June, with reports indicating his agreement to join Real Madrid during the summer transfer window.

As PSG’s record goalscorer with 255 goals, Mbappe is set to play his final home game at the Parc des Princes against Toulouse in Ligue 1 on Sunday, scheduled for 20:00 BST. Following this fixture, PSG has away matches against Nice on May 15th and Metz on May 19th, culminating with the French Cup final against Lyon at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy in Lille on May 25th. Mbappe, a native of Paris who joined PSG from Monaco for £165.7m in August 2017, credited the club for aiding in his growth both as a player and as a person.

Reflecting on his time with PSG, Mbappe acknowledged the club’s role in his development, stating that it allowed him to experience high-pressure situations and to learn from some of the greatest champions in history. Despite the emotional difficulty of announcing his departure, Mbappe expressed his readiness for a new challenge after spending seven years with PSG. This decision marks a significant turning point in Mbappe’s career as he looks forward to embracing new opportunities and challenges in the next phase of his football journey.
