Kevin Durant became the eighth player in NBA history to surpass 29,000 career points, achieving the milestone with a 31-point performance as his Phoenix Suns defeated the Dallas Mavericks 114-102. Durant’s career total now stands at 29,010 points, amassed over 17 seasons with teams including Seattle, Oklahoma City, Golden State, Brooklyn, and Phoenix. With a career scoring average of 27.3 points over 1,064 games, the 36-year-old has consistently averaged at least 20 points per season and is currently scoring nearly 29 points per game this season.
Reflecting on the accomplishment, Durant acknowledged the support he’s received over the years: “I’ve got to give credit to the people who have helped me since I was a kid,” he said. “Teammates who passed me the ball, set screens for me, coaches who drew up plays for me.”
Durant joins an elite scoring list topped by LeBron James (40,543 points), followed by NBA legends like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, and Michael Jordan. He ranks tenth in combined NBA and ABA scoring, just behind Julius Erving and Moses Malone. Suns coach Mike Budenholzer praised Durant, calling him a “great, generational talent” and expressing gratitude for the opportunity to coach him.
Durant’s achievement adds another highlight to his illustrious career, as he continues to be one of the league’s premier scorers.
