Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham has sustained a calf injury during training, casting doubt on his availability for England’s upcoming Nations League fixtures. The 21-year-old, who was unable to complete a training session on Friday, is expected to be sidelined until late September, according to reports in Spain. This timeline would see him miss England’s matches against the Republic of Ireland on 7 September and Finland on 10 September.

Real Madrid confirmed that Bellingham underwent medical tests on his right calf, with the club stating that his recovery will be closely monitored. The injury comes as a blow to both Real Madrid and England, especially with England’s interim manager Lee Carsley set to announce his squad on 29 August. Carsley, who took over after Gareth Southgate’s resignation, will be assisted by Ashley Cole and other experienced staff during this crucial period.

Bellingham, who had a standout debut season at Real Madrid with 23 goals in 42 appearances, was instrumental in the club’s La Liga and Champions League success last season. His absence could be a significant loss for England as they begin their Nations League campaign under new management.
