Former Manchester United star Jesse Lingard has been fined $143 (£121) by South Korean police for riding an electric scooter without a licence in Seoul. Now playing for FC Seoul, Lingard was investigated and fined 190,000 won after breaching local regulations that require a licence and helmet for electric scooter riders.
Lingard admitted his mistake on Instagram, acknowledging he was unaware of the rules and urged visitors to “check the regulations” for safety. He added, “It can be dangerous… I won’t do that again.”
This incident follows a previous driving ban Lingard received in Manchester after being caught drink-driving last year. The 31-year-old midfielder joined FC Seoul in February, having been without a club after leaving Nottingham Forest in 2023. He has earned 32 caps for England, scoring six goals during his international career.
