Jannik Sinner powered past Taylor Fritz in a decisive 6-4, 6-4 victory on Tuesday at the ATP Finals in Turin, bringing him within reach of a semi-final berth. Playing in front of a supportive Italian crowd, Sinner showed resilience under pressure, mirroring his straight-sets win over Fritz in their recent US Open final clash.

In the first set, Fritz, ranked fifth, challenged Sinner’s serve and created a break point opportunity during a tense 14-minute seventh game. However, Sinner held firm, then converted a break in the 10th game to clinch the set. The second set remained on serve until the 10th game when Fritz double-faulted on Sinner’s match point, sealing the win for the Italian.

This victory places Sinner atop the Ilie Nastase group, with a critical final round-robin match against Daniil Medvedev remaining. While Sinner’s spot in the semi-finals looks promising, he could still be edged out with a straight-sets loss to Medvedev. Meanwhile, Fritz, needing a win to stay alive, will face Alex de Minaur, who is yet to secure a win in Turin.
