Harry Kane’s historic feat in scoring four hat-tricks during his debut Bundesliga season helped Bayern Munich cut Bayer Leverkusen’s lead to seven points.

Harry Kane made Bundesliga history by becoming the first player to score four hat-tricks in his debut season with Bayern Munich. In a bid to close the seven-point gap with league leaders Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern secured an emphatic victory against relegation-threatened Mainz.

England captain Kane, 30, showcased his goal-scoring prowess, bringing his tally to 30 goals in 25 Bundesliga games and providing a brilliant assist for Jamal Musiala. As Bayern strives for a record-extending 12th successive title, the threat posed by Leverkusen under Xabi Alonso is putting pressure on their Bundesliga dominance.

Despite the challenging situation, Bayern manager Thomas Tuchel emphasized their commitment to making “statements of intent,” evident in their clinical performance against Mainz.

After Harry Kane tapped in the opening goal, Leon Goretzka doubled the advantage by seizing the opportunity when the England striker’s shot hit the post from Joshua Kimmich’s quick free-kick. Although Mainz narrowed the gap with a goal from Nadiem Amiri, Kane extended Bayern’s lead with another clinical finish before halftime.

Thomas Muller scored the fourth, reminiscent of Bayern’s opener, as Musiala delivered a precise low cross from the left. As Mainz attempted a comeback in the second half, Kane, Musiala, and Serge Gnabry secured three more goals for Bayern.

Kane completed his hat-trick, marking his 40th goal for club and country this season, while Goretzka added an eighth in injury time. The comprehensive 8-1 victory showcased Bayern Munich’s dominance against relegation-threatened Mainz.
