Defending champion Coco Gauff was eliminated in the fourth round of the US Open by fellow American Emma Navarro, losing 3-6, 6-4, 3-6. Gauff struggled with her serve, committing 19 double faults, and although she managed to push the match to a deciding set, Navarro’s consistent aggression ultimately secured her a place in the quarter-finals.

Navarro, playing her first US Open quarter-final, dominated the first set and took control of the second before a brief lapse allowed Gauff to level the match. However, Gauff’s serve continued to falter in the final set, leading to crucial breaks that handed Navarro the victory.

Navarro praised Gauff post-match, saying, “Coco is an amazing player, and I know she’ll be back to win this again one day.” Next, Navarro will face 26th seed Paula Badosa, who defeated China’s Yafan Wang 6-1, 6-2, showing strong form as she progresses to her second career Grand Slam quarter-final.

Badosa, a former top-five player, overcame personal and injury struggles to return to this stage, describing it as a “dream come true.” The quarter-final showdown between Navarro and Badosa promises to be an exciting clash at Flushing Meadows.
