Liverpool are set to sign Federico Chiesa from Juventus, as reported by The Athletic. The Italian winger will leave Juventus after a successful four-year stint in Turin, during which he won two Coppa Italias, one Italian Super Cup, and played a key role in Italy’s 2020 European Championship victory.
Chiesa’s departure from Juventus comes as a result of being out of favour with new manager Thiago Motta. This situation has led to Juventus agreeing to a cut-price fee of around £12.5 million for the 26-year-old, a move that could prove to be a bargain for Liverpool.
Chiesa will become Liverpool’s first signing for the 2024/25 season, following the announcement of Giorgi Mamardashvili earlier in the transfer window. However, the Georgian goalkeeper is set to join the Reds only in the summer of 2025.
Liverpool’s acquisition of Chiesa adds a proven winner with significant international and club experience to their attacking options, boosting their squad depth as they aim for success in domestic and European competitions in the coming seasons.
