World number 55 Emma Raducanu has announced her withdrawal from the Hong Kong Open, marking her fifth consecutive tournament absence due to injury. The 21-year-old Briton has been recovering from a foot ligament injury sustained during the Korea Open quarter-final against Daria Kasatkina on September 21.
Despite making “good progress” in her recovery, Raducanu stated on social media, “I need a little more time before I am match fit.” She hopes to return for future editions of the Hong Kong Open, which is set to begin on October 28.
Raducanu has played only two tournaments since July and is now focusing on being fit for the Billie Jean King Cup finals in Malaga from November 13-20. Britain’s opening match will be against Germany on November 15.
