Novak Djokovic triumphed over Carlos Alcaraz in a thrilling match to win his long-awaited Olympic gold medal, completing the career ‘Golden Slam’. The victory came after a tense battle against the 21-year-old Alcaraz, who has already claimed the French Open and Wimbledon titles this year. Djokovic secured his historic win with a 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-2) victory in front of an enthusiastic crowd at Roland Garros.

In a performance that showcased his determination and skill, the 37-year-old Serb clinched the match with a forehand winner. Overcome with emotion, Djokovic celebrated by throwing his racquet and then falling to his knees in tears. Afterward, he unfurled a Serbian flag and joined his family and support team in the stands, marking a momentous occasion in his illustrious career.

With this win, Djokovic becomes only the fifth player to achieve a ‘Golden Slam’ in singles, joining the ranks of Rafael Nadal, Serena Williams, Andre Agassi, and Steffi Graf. He expressed his joy and gratitude, saying, “I put my heart, my soul, everything to win gold. I did it for my country first – for Serbia.”

Carlos Alcaraz, although disappointed, took home a silver medal in his Olympic debut. Meanwhile, Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti secured the bronze medal after defeating Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime. Djokovic’s victory at the Olympics cements his status as one of the greatest players in tennis history, adding another prestigious accolade to his record-breaking career.
