Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall shared his journey from being a boot boy at Leicester City to rejoining the Premier League with Chelsea. Reflecting on his experience, Dewsbury-Hall recounted a memorable moment with a former teammate who rewarded him with a generous tip after being prompted by others.
“During the year Leicester won the League, I was his boot boy,” Dewsbury-Hall said. “He did tip actually! It was after some of the first team lads told him it was good manners at Christmas. He was quite generous, and I’m grateful to whoever nudged him.”
Return to Premier League with Chelsea
After a successful spell under manager Enzo Maresca at Leicester, Dewsbury-Hall is optimistic about replicating that success at Chelsea. The 25-year-old midfielder scored 12 goals and provided 14 assists for the Foxes last season. His decision to join Chelsea was significantly influenced by Maresca’s presence.
“Knowing the manager was here was a big catalyst for me,” Dewsbury-Hall said. “I think we can push for the top four and beyond because the squad is at a high level.”
Confidence in Maresca
Dewsbury-Hall praised Maresca’s impact and confidence, noting how quickly players bought into his philosophy. “Within the first week at Leicester, I was convinced this was top, top level,” he said. “He has something about him where you respect him. He’s confident and knows exactly what he wants.”
Looking Forward
Despite offers from other clubs, including Brighton, Dewsbury-Hall was set on Chelsea once they showed interest. He is eager to bring his evolved skills and winning mentality to Stamford Bridge, aiming to surprise fans and repay Maresca’s faith.
“I’m a completely different player now coming back into the Premier League,” Dewsbury-Hall said. “I’ve had experiences of winning and understanding football on a different level. If I made those leaps and bounds in the first year, I’m excited to see what can happen in the years to come.”
Chelsea fans, along with Dewsbury-Hall, hope that his transition to Stamford Bridge will bring renewed success and excitement to the club.
