Cole Palmer, Chelsea’s talented 22-year-old attacking midfielder, has signed a new contract extending his stay at Stamford Bridge until 2033. The nine-year deal comes with improved terms following Palmer’s impressive debut season with the club.

Having transferred from Manchester City for £42.5 million last summer, Palmer quickly made his mark at Chelsea, scoring 25 goals and providing 15 assists in 45 appearances. His performances have not gone unnoticed, with the club eager to secure his long-term future. The new contract reflects Chelsea’s commitment to the young England international, who recently scored in the 2-1 Euro 2024 final loss to Spain.

Palmer’s breakthrough season has earned him a spot on the shortlist for the PFA Player and Young Player of the Year awards, which will be announced in Salford next week. He also claimed the Premier League Young Player of the Season award for 2023-24. This recognition highlights his rapid rise and growing influence in English football.

Chelsea’s Premier League campaign kicks off against Manchester City on Sunday, setting up an intriguing encounter for manager Enzo Maresca. Maresca, who was part of City’s treble-winning coaching staff under Pep Guardiola in 2022-23, will be looking to make a strong start against his former club. Last season, he successfully guided Leicester City back to the Premier League by clinching the Championship title.
