Top seed Carlos Alcaraz advanced to the Miami Open quarter-finals after defeating Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti in straight sets, 6-3 6-3. He will face either Hubert Hurkacz from Poland or Grigor Dimitrov from Bulgaria in the next round.

Additionally, Australian Open champion Jannik Sinner won his match against Christopher O’Connell with a score of 6-4 6-3, while Russian Daniil Medvedev emerged victorious over Dominik Koepfer with a score of 7-6 (7-5) 6-0.

Alcaraz, who won the Indian Wells title, is aiming to achieve the Sunshine Double by winning both prestigious American hard court tournaments in the same season. He took control of the match against Musetti by securing a double break in the first set and responded immediately when Musetti broke back in the second set.

Sinner, currently ranked third in the world, will face Czech Tomas Machac in the quarter-finals. Despite falling behind a break of serve against O’Connell, Sinner rallied to win four consecutive games and secure the first set before cruising to victory in the second set.

Medvedev, ranked fourth, set up a match against Nicolas Jarry after defeating Koepfer. Jarry caused an upset by defeating world number eight Casper Ruud in straight sets, 7-6 (7-3) 6-3.
