Brighton & Hove Albion pulled off an impressive 2-1 comeback victory over Chelsea in the FA Cup fourth round on Saturday, securing their spot in the fifth round after a pulsating encounter.

Chelsea took an early lead in the 5th minute through an unfortunate own goal by Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen, as he mishandled an offensive pass. However, Brighton quickly regained their composure, with Georginio Rutter leveling the score in the 12th minute with a powerful header from a precise cross by Joel Veltman.

The second half saw Brighton dominate proceedings, and their persistence paid off in the 57th minute when Kaoru Mitoma converted Rutter’s clever assist, making it 2-1. Despite Chelsea’s late surge and multiple substitutions, including the introduction of Tyrique George and Noni Madueke, they couldn’t find an equalizer.

Brighton’s resolute defense held firm during the tense final moments, with substitute Matt O’Riley helping to shore up their midfield. The victory marks another milestone for Brighton, who continue their impressive FA Cup run while Chelsea are left to reflect on missed opportunities and defensive lapses.
