Brentford have agreed to a £40 million bid from Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli for striker Ivan Toney. Sources close to the player expect the deal to be finalized soon. Toney, 28, has not featured for Brentford this season, and manager Thomas Frank has confirmed that he will miss Saturday’s match against Southampton.
Brentford previously rejected a £35 million offer from Al-Ahli earlier this season, and Toney has also been linked with Chelsea in recent weeks. The Saudi transfer window remains open until September 2, allowing time for the transfer to be completed after the Premier League deadline of August 31.
If the move is completed, Toney will join a growing list of high-profile players moving to Saudi Arabia, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, and Neymar. Other English players like Jordan Henderson also moved to the Saudi league but faced mixed success, as Henderson left Al-Ettifaq for Ajax after just six months.
