Bournemouth has signed Mexican full-back Julian Araujo from Barcelona on a five-year deal for an undisclosed fee. The 23-year-old, who joined Barcelona from LA Galaxy last summer, spent the previous season on loan at Las Palmas, where he made 25 appearances in La Liga.

Araujo becomes Bournemouth’s fifth senior signing of the summer, joining Dean Huijsen, Luis Sinisterra, Enes Unal, and Alex Paulsen on the south coast. Bournemouth’s chief executive, Neill Blake, expressed his excitement about the new addition, stating, “Julian is someone we have tracked for a while now, and we’re delighted to bring him to Bournemouth. He’s a young player with high potential, and we’re pleased to have beaten lots of competition for his signature.”

Araujo, who began his professional career with LA Galaxy in MLS, where he made 108 appearances, has also earned 13 caps for Mexico. He was part of the Mexican national team that won the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup. As Bournemouth looks forward to the new season, Araujo’s arrival is expected to strengthen their defensive options at Vitality Stadium.
