On Sunday, the Argentinian Football Association (AFA) announced the passing of Cesar Luis Menotti, the revered coach who steered Argentina to World Cup victory in 1978. Menotti, a former player for Rosario Central, Boca Juniors, and Santos, transitioned into coaching at Newell’s Old Boys before achieving domestic success with Huracan in 1973. His tenure as head coach of the Argentinian national team began in 1974, culminating in a historic World Cup triumph.
