Featherweight world champion Amanda Serrano stopped Stevie Morgan 38 seconds into round two of their light-welterweight contest in Florida. Originally set to fight Ireland’s undisputed world lightweight champion Katie Taylor, the event headlined by YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul and former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson was postponed to November 15 after Tyson withdrew on medical grounds.
In the rescheduled bout at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Puerto Rican Serrano dominated 35-year-old Morgan from the US. The referee halted the fight early in the second round after Serrano unleashed a series of powerful punches, marking her first stoppage victory in three years.
In the co-main event, Jake Paul, 27, defeated fellow American Mike Perry in the sixth round. Perry, 32, known for his bare-knuckle fighting, was knocked down twice by Paul, who floored him with an overhand right in the first minute and again early in the second round. The fight was stopped midway through the sixth round as Perry, bloodied and swollen, struggled to continue after another knockdown.
Paul, who has won 10 of his 11 professional bouts since 2020, expressed confidence after the fight, stating, “He’s tough as nails but I just hit too hard and he took a lot of damage. Mike Tyson, you’re next. It’s anyone, any time, any place.” Statistics from Compubox showed Paul landed 96 punches to Perry’s 33, including 52 jabs, earning praise from Perry, who admitted, “You did a great job, you were way too fast for me and I couldn’t adjust.”
