Alvaro Morata is close to joining Galatasaray on loan from AC Milan, after the Turkish champions confirmed that negotiations between the two clubs have begun.
Galatasaray’s Official Statement
In a brief announcement on social media, the club said:
“Official negotiations have begun for the loan of Alvaro Morata.”
Morata’s Struggles at Milan
- The Spain captain, 32, joined Milan from Atletico Madrid last summer as a replacement for Olivier Giroud.
- However, he has failed to impress, scoring just six goals in 24 appearances across all competitions.
- Milan, currently eighth in Serie A, are preparing for a high-stakes derby against Inter Milan.
Milan’s Replacement & Galatasaray’s Ambitions
- Santiago Gimenez is set to arrive at Milan from Feyenoord for €32 million (£26.7m) as Morata’s replacement.
- Meanwhile, Galatasaray lead the Turkish Super Lig by six points, ahead of rivals Fenerbahce, and are looking to strengthen their squad for the title push.
Morata’s move could offer him a fresh start, while Galatasaray aim to add firepower to their attack as they chase domestic and European success.
