The much-anticipated Premier League clash between Liverpool and Manchester United is at risk due to heavy snow in the Merseyside area. Following an overnight snowstorm, the Met Office issued an amber weather warning, forcing the Liverpool City Council’s Grounds Safety Advisory Group to assess the conditions. A decision on whether the game will proceed is now expected at midday GMT, just hours before the scheduled 17:30 GMT kick-off.

The adverse weather has already led to travel disruptions, prompting Liverpool’s statement: “At this stage, the match is planned to go ahead as normal, and every effort is being made to get the game on.” A further safety review will take place at noon to determine the final outcome. Fans have been advised to exercise caution due to the challenging conditions.

The match holds significant stakes for both teams. Liverpool currently lead the Premier League with 45 points, sitting five ahead of second-placed Arsenal. Meanwhile, Manchester United’s recent poor form has seen them fall to 14th, with three consecutive defeats under manager Ruben Amorim.
