Glamorgan Cricket has dismissed head coach Grant Bradburn following allegations of inappropriate behavior, the club announced on Monday. The 58-year-old New Zealander was referred to the independent Cricket Regulator and subsequently charged with misconduct.
“Glamorgan Cricket has a zero-tolerance policy towards discriminatory behavior of any kind,” the club said in a statement. “After completing our internal investigation, it became clear that Mr. Bradburn’s position was untenable.”
The club has pledged support for those affected by the incident. Chair Mark Rhydderch-Roberts reiterated the organization’s commitment to fostering a respectful and inclusive environment.
Bradburn’s Career and Glamorgan Tenure
Hamilton-born Bradburn had a distinguished career as a player and coach. He represented New Zealand in seven Tests and 11 ODIs between 1990 and 2001 before transitioning to coaching.
Grant Bradburn’s Coaching Highlights | Achievements |
---|---|
Scotland (2014-2018) | Historic ODI win against England in 2017 |
Pakistan (2023) | Brief head coach stint |
Glamorgan (2024) | One-Day Cup title; 5th in County Division 2 |
Bradburn joined Glamorgan in January 2024 on a three-year deal and quickly made an impact, leading the Welsh team to One-Day Cup success in September. However, his tenure was cut short after the club’s internal investigation into the allegations.
The decision to terminate Bradburn underscores Glamorgan’s commitment to maintaining integrity and professionalism. Rhydderch-Roberts emphasized the club’s dedication to creating a respectful environment: “We’re incredibly proud of our track record in ensuring everyone involved feels respected, belongs, and is treated fairly.”
The club will now begin the search for a new head coach to lead them into the next County Championship season while continuing to support those impacted by the allegations.
