Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk is facing a potential suspension after the Football Association (FA) notified him of an adverse finding in a routine urine sample. The Ukrainian international and the club have expressed their surprise and commitment to investigating the issue, emphasizing that Mudryk has “never knowingly” used a banned substance.

Chelsea’s Statement on the Matter

In a statement, Chelsea confirmed their cooperation with the FA, reiterating their support for routine testing.

“Mykhailo has confirmed categorically that he has never knowingly used any banned substances. Both Mykhailo and the club will now work with the relevant authorities to establish what has caused the adverse finding,” the statement read.

Mudryk also took to Instagram to address the matter, expressing his shock and denying any intentional wrongdoing.

“I know that I have not done anything wrong and remain hopeful that I will be back on the pitch soon,” he said, while adding that he is actively working with his team to uncover the cause.

While the case is being investigated, the FA’s protocols mean that Mudryk could face a suspension from football until the matter is resolved. Chelsea will be without his services as they prepare to face Shamrock Rovers on Thursday.

This development adds to the challenges for the Premier League club, with fans and pundits awaiting further clarity on Mudryk’s situation. Both player and club remain optimistic that the issue can be resolved swiftly, with Mudryk’s return to action hinging on the findings of the ongoing inquiry.
