New Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has set the tone for his tenure, blending charisma with authority as he tackles the club’s challenges. Known for his personable approach, Amorim admitted he can be tough when required, aiming to restore United, currently 13th in the Premier League, to their former glory.

“You can be the same person. There are places to have fun and places to work hard. I can be ruthless when I have to be,” Amorim said during his first press conference. He emphasized that teamwork would earn his kindness, but selfishness would bring out his sterner side.

The Portuguese tactician, affectionately nicknamed “The Poet” by compatriots and Cristiano Ronaldo, impressed journalists with his English communication despite minimal preparation time. Amorim has had just two training sessions to prepare United for Sunday’s clash against 17th-placed Ipswich Town at Portman Road.

The fixture kicks off a grueling six-week schedule of 12 games, including his Old Trafford debut against Bodo/Glimt and a league encounter with Everton. “Improvement comes in training,” Amorim stated, acknowledging the challenge of refining tactics amidst such a packed calendar. However, he remained optimistic about adapting to these demands to steer United back on track.
