World number two Carlos Alcaraz was eliminated from the Paris Masters in a dramatic third-round clash, falling to France’s Ugo Humbert in three sets, 6-1, 3-6, 7-5. Humbert, ranked 18th, notched his first win over the two-time Grand Slam champion after previously losing to Alcaraz twice this year.

Alcaraz struggled early, finding himself down 0-5 in the first set before managing a game, but ultimately conceded it 6-1. Although he rallied to take the second set 6-3, Humbert outlasted him in a tense decider to clinch the match. The French left-hander narrowly led in winners, landing 28 to Alcaraz’s 23, and both players recorded 38 unforced errors.

This defeat adds to a turbulent stretch for Alcaraz, who faced early exits at the US Open and Shanghai Masters after a second-place finish at the Paris Olympics. Humbert will now compete against Australia’s Jordan Thompson for a spot in the semi-finals, aiming to extend his impressive run on home soil.
