Coco Gauff continued her stellar form at the Wuhan Open by securing a 6-0, 6-4 victory over Magda Linette in the quarter-finals, marking her 50th WTA main draw win of the season. Gauff, currently ranked World No. 4, extended her winning streak to nine matches despite struggling with double faults throughout the match. Her aggressive returning overwhelmed an error-prone Linette, who committed 22 unforced errors.

In the first set, Gauff saved four break points to hold serve twice, eventually dominating to win it 6-0. The second set was more competitive, but Gauff capitalized on Linette’s mistakes, breaking in the seventh game to secure the win. Gauff’s performance, even with eight double faults, highlighted her ability to maintain control under pressure.

Gauff may face top seed Aryna Sabalenka in the semi-finals, depending on the outcome of Sabalenka’s quarter-final match against Magdalena Frech. Reflecting on the potential match-up, Gauff said, “I’ve played them both before, they’re tough opponents.”

This win not only pushes Gauff closer to another title but also emphasizes her growth under her new coach, Matt Daly, particularly in fine-tuning her game for high-stakes matches.
