Former Sheffield United defender George Baldock has tragically passed away at the age of 31, according to reports from Greek media. Baldock was reportedly found dead in the swimming pool of his home in Glyfada, Greece. The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear.

Baldock had joined Panathinaikos in the summer of 2024 after a successful seven-year spell with Sheffield United, where he played a crucial role in two promotion campaigns and helped the club to a ninth-place finish in the Premier League in 2020. He made 219 appearances for the Blades, contributing six goals and 16 assists, and was a fan favourite at Bramall Lane.

A 12-time Greece international, Baldock had already made four appearances for Panathinaikos this season. The Greek Super League expressed its deep sorrow in a statement, extending condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.
