Belgium has suffered a setback ahead of their upcoming UEFA Nations League matches as defensive midfielder Amadou Onana has been ruled out due to a hamstring injury. Onana, who picked up the injury during Aston Villa’s Champions League victory over Bayern Munich, also missed their recent goalless draw with Manchester United.
In response to Onana’s absence, Belgium has called up Wolfsburg midfielder Aster Vranckx as a replacement. Vranckx will join the squad for the crucial fixtures against Italy on October 10th and France on October 14th.
Belgium, who have had mixed results in the competition so far — a win against Israel and a loss to France — will also be without their captain, Kevin De Bruyne, who remains sidelined with an injury sustained while playing for Manchester City last month. The team will be looking to navigate these challenges as they aim to make progress in their Nations League campaign.
