18-year-old Stan Moody pulled off a remarkable 4-3 victory over China’s Anda Zhang in the second round of snooker’s British Open. Moody, who twice came from behind, held his nerve in the deciding seventh frame to secure what he described as his “best win on tour.” Reflecting on his performance, Moody said, “I’m very happy. I played well, potted the balls when I needed to, and I’m over the moon.”
Elsewhere, snooker veterans John Higgins and Kyren Wilson also advanced. Higgins overcame Shaun Murphy 4-2, with a crucial break of 82 helping him secure the win after a late comeback attempt by Murphy. Higgins will now face Graeme Dott in the next round.
Kyren Wilson, the reigning world champion, beat Duane Jones 4-1. Despite Jones leveling the score at 1-1, Wilson regained control to win the next three frames and progress to a third-round clash with Marco Fu.
In other results, Jak Jones defeated Ukrainian teenager Iulian Boiko 4-1, while Mark Selby edged past Sijun Yuan 4-3 in a tense finish.
