Chelsea have agreed a transfer fee in principle for Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix, with Conor Gallagher set to move in the opposite direction as part of the deal. The fee for Felix, who spent a loan spell at Chelsea during the 2022-23 season, remains undisclosed. The 24-year-old Portuguese international is expected to sign a six-year contract with an option for an additional year after completing his medical.

Felix, who scored four goals in 20 appearances during his previous stint at Stamford Bridge, will return to Chelsea, while Gallagher will join Atletico Madrid on a five-year deal. The move for Gallagher, valued at £33 million, was delayed due to complications in Chelsea’s pursuit of striker Samu Omorodion, but it is now set to proceed.

Chelsea are also focusing on other player sales as the transfer deadline approaches on August 30, while still showing interest in Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. Meanwhile, Napoli continues their efforts to sign Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea, with a second loan offer that includes a £25.5 million obligation to buy expected to be rejected, as it falls short of Chelsea’s £35 million asking price.
