Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has expressed uncertainty over the future of goalkeeper Ederson amid interest from the Saudi Pro League. Despite being his first-choice keeper, Guardiola admitted after City’s 4-3 defeat to Celtic that Ederson’s stay at the club is not guaranteed.
Ederson, who has been instrumental in City’s success with six Premier League titles, played the second half in the pre-season match against Celtic. Guardiola highlighted that while there have been no recent contacts, the situation could change before the transfer window closes.
Meanwhile, Kalvin Phillips is expected to leave City, likely on loan, after a disappointing spell at West Ham last season. Phillips, who missed out on Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2024, was substituted at halftime against Celtic to protect him following his injury issues. Guardiola acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding Phillips’ future, noting that they would reassess as the transfer window progresses.
