Despite his struggles, Woods showed resilience on the challenging Oakland Hills South Course, nicknamed “The Monster” by Ben Hogan. On his second day, Woods was 1 over through four holes when a storm delayed play for over an hour. Upon resumption, he faltered, ending the front nine with five holes at 8 over, including a triple bogey on the 18th.
The top 64 players advanced to match play, beginning Wednesday, with the 36-hole championship match scheduled for Saturday. Charlie’s efforts drew significant attention due to his father’s presence, who had a large entourage and security detail.
Tiger Woods, who missed the cut at the British Open, was there to support his son. Charlie earned his place in the tournament with a 1-under 71 in the qualifier. Despite the setback, both father and son continue to inspire fans with their dedication to the sport.
