Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has moved to Olympique de Marseille on loan, with an option for a permanent transfer. If Marseille chooses to make the deal permanent, they will reportedly pay around £16 million ($21 million) for the 28-year-old Danish international, who has a year remaining on his Spurs contract.

Hojbjerg’s Career and Role at Spurs

Hojbjerg has made 184 appearances and scored 10 goals for Tottenham since joining from Southampton in 2020. Despite his contributions, he fell out of favor last season, with Spurs preferring Pape Matar Sarr, Yves Bissouma, and Rodrigo Bentancur in midfield.

Marseille’s New Additions and Upcoming Season

Marseille, now under the management of Roberto De Zerbi, former Brighton & Hove Albion manager, will begin their Ligue 1 campaign at Brest on August 18. In addition to Hojbjerg, Marseille has also signed former Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood.
